This is probably going to come as a big surprise to most readers, but as of the end of the 2008 calendar year, I'm going to quit updating this site.
I've been writing reviews here for over 10 years now, and although I still largely enjoy doing it, I need to move in a slightly different direction.
Essentially, I'm going to be moving shop over to my shinier, new site Something Excellent (http://www.somethingexcellent.com/) and only writing about things that I really enjoy. Comments will be open for every post and I'll plan on updating every week (and maybe more). To help drive traffic there, I've posted my year-end mixes on that site instead... :)
This site and the entire archive of reviews and podcasts will stay up here indefinitely. I'm very proud of them and lots of people still stumble onto the site via search engines, so hopefully they'll still be a resource for some time.
I've posted my favorite albums for the year list (on the lists page) and will again be taking reader submissions for theirs as well (see readers list linked from the same page).

Wow. 2008 is flying by and after a bit of a lull it seems I've heard more things in the past two weeks that have excited me than I'd heard in the past two months.
Overall, I feel like I've managed to keep up fairly well this year, but if you had to recommend a couple things that I absolutely must hear before the end of the year, please recommend them here.
