Harvey Danger The first time I heard this groups first single, "Flagpole Sitta," I was hooked. It's a upbeat pop song with a harder edge and witty lyrics that stick in your head after hearing them only once. After listening to a couple more of the tracks and finding the disc used, I decided that I would take a chance on it. After listening to the entire disc, I'm glad that I did. While they did capture a slot on mainstream radio for awhile, it's doubtful that most of the people who bought the disc got most of their references. Those who have heard the single mentioned above already have a good idea what this disc is all about. Although the song tempos range from semi-ballad to almost punk, the lyrics are always witty (without being too highbrow) and every song has some sort of catchy jangle to it. Add in one of the more expressive vocalists I've heard in some time (Sean Nelson) and this is an album that will sink in and hook you. Keep your ear on these guys, because I have a feeling that they're going to be back. Rating: 7
