Finished my book 4 days after starting it and after reading about people freezing to death while climbing Mt. Everest (Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer comes with my high recommendations), it just didn't seem as cold outside as it had all week.

It was dark tonight when I left work. No light creeping through the sky and I rode under streetlamps on the quiet streets while relegating myself to the sidewalks on more busy thoroughfares. Remembering the incident on the 14th and thinking I need more flashing lights on me.

The first snow that I'd seen this year was falling as I biked to work. It was nothing much and it didn't accumilate at all, but the small, cold pinpricks on my skin still managed to make me just a bit more excited about winter.

Today I decided to stop surfing the web during my lunch hour at work and read instead. By the time my hour was done, I had plowed through almost 60 pages of a book and had to force myself to put it down. It was a betting feeling than checking the same sites over and over.

I'm one of those people who owns a calendar, but forgets to change it for months at a time. When I looked at the one on the wall in my kitchen tonight, it was still stuck on June of 2001. I flipped it ahead to present time, then realized just how close to the end of the year that it is.

After 9 days off in a row, I go back to work tomorrow. Although it will be interesting to get back after being gone so long, I honestly think I could do this more often.

Really cold and rainy today, feeling like it could _quite possibly_ snow at any moment. It actually felt like winter today, and that was a good thing.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a film that I hadn't seen since it was in the theatres, but I was still amazed and delighted in it while watching it at home.

I really don't understand why everyone thinks that Shrek is such a good movie. Have burp/fart jokes and musical vignettes set to todays crappiest alternative rock bands been elevated to high art status? Sheesh.

Making foods until past midnight. No turkey for me tomorrow. Instead (with the guidance and leadership of Tina), the smells of asparagus/potato puffs, sweet potato pie, and vegetable cheesecake are filling the kitchen. Tomorrow, they will be eaten.

For the first time ever, I used an old fashioned brush and lather soap for shaving. It was pretty interesting, worked well, and left my skin smelling fairly nice. I seriously doubt I'm going to go with a straight razor anytime soon, though.

Biked almost 20 miles today on my first day off for the week, even though it was only about 20 degrees out with the wind chill. My goal is to have 1000 miles on my bike by the end of the year and I'm only about 32 away.

There's a little shelter by the bike trail and sometimes there are bands set up and playing in it. Today while I rollerbladed by, I heard a band that actually had some excellent things going on (most of the time, it's best to just keep moving). It started raining hard, so I went and stood under some trees nearby and listened to them playing before I went and called someone to come pick me up (as rollerblading on pavement with large puddles is quite tricky).

It's not that I have a fear of heights, it's that I have a fear of climbing up onto a high roof with shingles that are hard to grip with shoes and absolutely nothing else to really hold onto (and no, I'd rather not take the chance of falling off the roof and grabbing onto the gutter dramatically as if I were in a movie).

Because I didn't go to Spain, I have lots of vacation days I still need to use up before the end of the year. I filled out a leave slip for all of next week to relax and hopefully get some things done.

Being a person that bikes to work almost every day, it kind of shook me up to read that someone (even though I didn't know them) had been hit by a car and killed on their bike last evening.

70 degrees 2 weeks into November? It's so strange an although I'm a pretty big fan of cold weather, I think I can handle this for just awhile longer. Pretty soon I'm going to need a damn snowstorm, though.

I've been eating too many sweets lately. Soda, candy, ice cream, cookies, and everything else have become my downfall. It may be some holdover from days of youth when at I was still eating Halloween candy at about this time, but I've decided to cut back. This stuff can't be good for my teeth, and I'm going to need those things in the future.

The wind was so strong on the way to work today that in places I usually average about 16 miles an hour, I was averaging about 11 (on my bike). Also, the wind was so cold, that instead of feeling the temperature that it actually was (40 degrees), it felt over 20 degrees cooler.

Wine on a Monday night? I think it's justified if you're having a dinner party with several people over. Also, I held a child for like the first time in 12 years. Wacky.

Today was my little (younger) brothers birthday and he turned 23. Went out to eat with the family for Thai food (nice!) and it sort of made me feel old. My birthday arrives in just over a week, so we'll see how I'm feeling then again, when I turn 27.
